All Caught Up

Finally, I am all caught up from the beginning of what turned out to be a very busy August for me.  All my images and projects have been posted here and I feel quite accomplished.  Now it is time for me to get on with my Saturday!  I hope everyone has a great and safe holiday and I will be back to posting before you know it!

I have a few experiments and concepts to put together and make magical so look for those to come soon!

Now, I leave you with some music to kick it off right!

I’d Rather Be Here…

To keep myself sane with all the daily life stuff that we all go through, I started a series to help me along each week called “I’d Rather Be Here”.  This series, tagged with the #iwouldratherbehere hashtag, let’s me share images I have taken in places I would rather be in that moment then where I currently aim; be it work, the line at the grocery, or even traffic!  It is a fun exercise to help with the stressors of everyday life and slightly cathartic as well!

The first image comes from Sanibel Island, Florida.

To Like Those Who Bring You Harm Or Hate

To Like Those Who Bring You Harm Or Hate

“When I say it’s you I like, I’m talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed.” ― Fred Rogers

“The trick to forgetting the big picture is to look at everything close up.” ― Chuck Palahniuk

Sometimes it is important to inspect things as if under a microscope.  It can even be cathartic to find a small microcosm of the world or universe and catechize it to the most finite and granular level.  Of course, once you get down into that rabbit hole, it can be wondrous to just respect the view.

Today, while home with a sick kid, it was nice to get a five minute breather to try out a new bouncing flash technique I have been reading about with this awesome little froggy I found basking in the shade of two leaves.

It is the little moments in life that make it worth it; it really helps you to forget the crap that can be slung at you.

“Sometime you have to give up on people; not because you don’t care, but because they don’t.” – Unknown

It is a sad day when you have to block people from your life who you thought were your friends.  It is even more sad that it has to be done in the first place.  It does beg an interesting question, though; are people we meet in the social media circles really ever “good friends” or are they merely acquaintances that share a common interest and once the time and presence has run its course, the parties move on, or can lasting friendships truly bring us all together?

It is a tough debate since I do consider many people I have met through interweb relations to be friends, but then there are those hidden few that sneak in under the radar, bring you all sorts of drama and grief and that is when you have to make the decision to have a drama free zone and cut them out or DELETE them, if you will.

Today was one of those days…

le sigh

The good news?

I am not holding it against them, I am simply cutting them out and moving on….and moving on with people who matter and who count for something in my eyes.

You Cannot Hide From The Truth

You Cannot Hide From The Truth

There are times in life we all make mistakes, go down what we think is the wrong path at the time, and even regret parts of our life, and you may even come across people in life that invent truths that fit their own agendas, but we all know better – our spirits, our souls know better – we cannot hide our eyes from the truth, we cannot solely look at comfortable lies that make us feel better.

Part of life is making mistakes and making tough choices.  It is how we handle the bad and the good that makes up our character and helps us build relationships with others.

Eventually, I believe, we all end up in a place we were supposed to be, even if the path might not have been the easiest one to take.

The Vast And Blue

The Vast And Blue

“It is easy to believe we are each waves and forget we are also the ocean.” ― Jon J. Muth

When we consider ourselves to be alone in everything, we make life harder.  If you believe you are a sole creature that does not affect the world, you have no issue tearing at others and that isn’t what life is all about.  Once you realize we are all interconnected by hopes, dreams, and aspirations, it is so much easier and rewarding to help build each other up.
