A Different Kind of Darkness

“A work will only have deep resonance if the kind of darkness I can generate is something that is resident in me already.” – Anish Kapoor

There is something I love about playing with negative and positive space.  It can impact an image in so many ways.  I am generally a pretty upbeat, positive person, but there is always a bit of darkness around to enhance that light.

It comes down to dwelling, to me.

I can have a darker side that isn’t necessarily bad, just like negative space is not always bad for an artistic piece.  My darkness is like a traveler riding with me that reminds me of just how far I can climb to achieve my goals and personal successes in life.

When I shot this, I knew that it was a perfect representation of what I was thinking about when I think of darkness and light.

I hope you enjoy! ♥
