Making Some Changes | Good Changes

Currently, this site is under the “dot.com” version of WordPress and set to have the domain expire in about a month and a half.  I have come to a solid decision to take it to a self hosted version of WordPress to give me more control over different aspects of this site.  Over the last year or so, as I finish up with school, I have found that my interests and use for the blog have gone away from solely photographic work, but also that of my artistic designs – thus, another reason to switch.  The current photography motif and URL aren’t encompassing all that I want to offer.

That being said, over the next few weeks, I will be migrating and putting together something worthy of my branding.  Hopefully, it will be a seamless transition, but just in case it isn’t then I am giving you fair warning for the possible hiccups that may occur.

Thank you all so much for following along with my artistic exploits over the years, and I hope you will continue for years to come!

And The Stars Made Love To The Universe

And The Stars Made Love To The Universe

“We are alive
And the stars make love to the universe
You’re my wildfire every single night”

I created this multiple exposure with 3 images – a portrait, fire from burning alcohol, and the night sky (completely embellished because I get too much light pollution in my back yard).  What inspired this creation was the song Empire by Shakira, which I recently heard and felt moved by.  There is a beauty to the composition as well as the lyrics and emotion conveyed in its story-telling.

In school this week, we were focused on story-telling, so this just seemed to click conceptually for me.  I honestly had plans for highly stylized make-up, but once I got the lyrical itch, I had to work this one through to the end.

Enjoy! ♥

All The Best Treasures Are 8-bit

All The Best Treasures Are 8-bit

Week 6 | Final Term

Going back to my geeky, gamer roots for a class project, I used the 8-bit treasure box I purchased for my boyfriend for Christmas over at +ThinkGeek to shoot an object found around the house.

Once shot, I used a time saving action I created using curve masks to dodge and burn.

For the purposes of sharing, I added a little texture and text for shits and giggles.

Enjoy! ♥

Continuing The Good Work

Continuing The Good Work

As a fun look at things of then to things of now, I hunted down the images from the last time I had a tattoo session back in September of 2012 and some cell phone shots my boyfriend, +Robert Hacker, took for me at this most recent session on May 10th, 2014 yesterday so I could compare.

It seems like a life time ago and yet it also feels like only yesterday (figuratively speaking) that I started this very special conceptual piece on my back that will one day slide down my half sleeve.

After this last session, I will only have some color retouching (fish and other odds and ends) and the background left before we start the long journey of the bicep and shoulder.

I am looking forward to this. Andy, my tattoo guy, is awesome and the fact that he has hybridized the world of tattoo artistry with an art gallery makes it so much sweeter too.

I sometimes feel that my life could be road mapped on my canvas, but the stories they tell need me to decrypt the symbolism behind each one; when someone asks what one of them means, I get to tell a story about my life and I think that is pretty cool.

One day, all the chapters will be there to see and that is exciting as well!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and mom-to-be’s out there and I hope everyone enjoys this and the rest of this wonderful Sunday! ♥

Searching For My Wonderland

Searching For My Wonderland

“Be what you would seem to be – or, if you’d like it put more simply – never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.” ― Lewis Carroll

For this week’s +Selfy Sunday, that had no specific theme, I chose to take the opportunity to meditate after working on a class project at the beach, while searching my self for calm and peace, I decided to use that good energy to shoot my image.

I love being able to find my center and the quite empty, early morning beach with hard waves breaking was the perfect place to start the day.

In The Meantime

In The Meantime

Well, +Mark Rodriguez and +Kelly Richards brought out the first selfy for +Blast From The Past and +Heidi Lynn mentioned how far I have come.  This was in the Summer of 2011, and my hair isn’t the only think that has changed since then. Here was a very first selfy I created where I intended to show emotion and create something artsy – aka not a FB snap shot for my profile heh!

It was with my silly little point and shoot Nikon because I didn’t really know that the “fancy cameras” were called dSLRs yet!  Even looking at it now, I want to fix it up and make it better, but there is something endearing in seeing where you started….

So, it stays!
